Working with TP2-H06
Is TP2 easy to machine?
Gummy and low-rated (~20 % of AISI 1212): use sharp positive-rake tools, high speed, generous cutting fluid and chip breaking; choose C14500 or free-cutting brass for screw-machine work.
Can TP2 be welded?
Phosphorus deoxidation means no hydrogen embrittlement — GTAW/GMAW with ERCu filler, preheat 200–400 °C for sections above ~3 mm; brazing with BCuP filler needs no flux on copper-to-copper joints.
Can TP2 be formed, bent or molded?
Excellent cold formability in O60 (bend, flare, expand, deep draw); intermediate anneals at 400–600 °C restore ductility after ~50 % reduction; hot working 750–950 °C.
What surface finishes work on TP2?
Polishes to a bright finish and takes tin, nickel or silver plating well; not anodizable — protect with lacquer or accept natural patina, and avoid ammonia-based cleaners.

TP2-H06 — frequently asked
What is TP2-H06 used for?
TP2-H06 is typically used for air-conditioning tube, plumbing tube, heat exchangers and brazed fittings. In short: standard brazeable copper tube; no hydrogen embrittlement; lower conductivity than ETP.
What is the yield strength of TP2-H06?

Is TP2-H06 easy to machine?
Not especially — machinability is rated poor (30/100, worse than 67% of copper alloy grades). Gummy and low-rated (~20 % of AISI 1212): use sharp positive-rake tools, high speed, generous cutting fluid and chip breaking; choose C14500 or free-cutting brass for screw-machine work.
Can TP2-H06 be welded?
Yes — weldability is rated very good (75/100). Phosphorus deoxidation means no hydrogen embrittlement — GTAW/GMAW with ERCu filler, preheat 200–400 °C for sections above ~3 mm; brazing with BCuP filler needs no flux on copper-to-copper joints.

What is the maximum service temperature of TP2-H06?
TP2-H06 is rated for continuous use to about 150°C (302 °F). Strength falls off well before that limit — check the elevated-temperature data for load-bearing parts.
What is the difference between TP2-H58 and TP2-O60?
H58 is the default condition — the default stocked condition: cold-drawn straight lengths of TP2 water/gas/medical-gas tube — rigid, pressure-rated, brazed rather than bent. O60: fully annealed coil tube and sheet for maximum ductility — ACR coils, flare fittings, deep drawing and spinning. Yield strength is 250 MPa in H58 versus 70 MPa in O60.
