Copper Alloy TP2-H01 vs TP2-H06

Copper Alloy · TP2 temper comparison

TP2-H01 and TP2-H06 are two conditions of the same copper alloy grade, TP2: H01 (quarter hard) versus H06 (extra hard). The chemistry is identical, so every difference below comes from the condition. TP2-H06 is the stronger of the two: yield strength 315 MPa (45.7 ksi) against 205 MPa (29.7 ksi) for TP2-H01, about 54% more; tensile strength follows at 350 MPa (50.8 ksi) vs 265 MPa (38.4 ksi). In exchange, TP2-H01 is the more ductile: elongation 25% versus 5% for TP2-H06, and TP2-H06 is harder (102 HB vs 75 HB). TP2-H01 runs hotter in service (170°C vs 150°C continuous).

TP2-H01 vs TP2-H06 — frequently asked

Is TP2-H06 stronger than TP2-H01?

Yes. TP2-H06 has a typical yield strength of 315 MPa (45.7 ksi) against 205 MPa (29.7 ksi) for TP2-H01 — about 54% more. Tensile strength is 350 MPa (50.8 ksi) vs 265 MPa (38.4 ksi).

Which condition does FabDigit quote by default, H01 or H06?

H58 is the default TP2 condition in the FabDigit quote flow (neither H01 nor H06). The other condition is available on request or by drawing note — specify it in the material field or the part notes and the quote is priced for it.

Which is easier to machine, TP2-H01 or TP2-H06?

TP2-H06, by a small margin. Both rate poor for machinability — 30/100 against 25/100 for TP2-H01; for welding the order is TP2-H01 first (very good, 80/100) then TP2-H06 (very good, 75/100).

Upload a CAD file and FabDigit prices the part in TP2-H01 and TP2-H06 side by side — material, machining time, tolerance and finish in one quote. Certified material data ships with the order on request.

Typical handbook values for the conditions named above, normalised for comparison. Hardness on non-Brinell scales is converted approximately for charting only. Request certified data with your order for design-critical properties.
