Working with Cu-DXP-H055
Is Cu-DXP easy to machine?
Gummy and non-free-cutting (~20 % of AISI 1212): use sharp positive-rake tools, high speed, low feed and generous coolant; half-hard temper cuts cleaner than annealed.
Can Cu-DXP be welded?
Excellent for oxy-fuel, TIG and MIG because the residual phosphorus prevents hydrogen embrittlement; preheat heavy sections to offset the high thermal conductivity.
Can Cu-DXP be formed, bent or molded?
In R220 it bends, expands, flares and deep-draws readily; interstage anneal above ~450 °C after heavy cold work, and avoid ammonia-bearing environments on cold-worked parts.
What surface finishes work on Cu-DXP?
Not anodizable — solder/braze, tin or nickel plate, or polish and lacquer; bare surfaces patinate to brown/green in service.
