Working with ERNiCrMo-3 PWHT-SR
Is ERNiCrMo-3 easy to machine?
Weld deposit machines like alloy 625: low speed, heavy positive-rake carbide, rigid setup and flood coolant to beat severe work hardening and built-up edge.
Can ERNiCrMo-3 be welded?
GTAW/GMAW/PAW/SAW with Ar or Ar-He shielding, low interpass (<150 °C) and stringer beads; keep dilution and sulfur/phosphorus pickup low to avoid hot cracking, no preheat needed.
Can ERNiCrMo-3 be formed, bent or molded?
Consumable is cold drawn and layer-wound; deposits are ductile but strongly work hardening, so any cold straightening/forming of weldments needs generous bend radii.
What surface finishes work on ERNiCrMo-3?
Pickle or mechanically remove heat tint and remove residual Nb-rich films before service; electropolish or passivate for cleanliness — do not anodize.

ERNiCrMo-3 PWHT-SR — frequently asked
What is ERNiCrMo-3 PWHT-SR used for?
ERNiCrMo-3 PWHT-SR is typically used for pipe welding root passes, overlay cladding on carbon steel, subsea equipment welding and dissimilar metal joining. In short: most versatile nickel filler; service to 900 °C; standard CRA overlay wire.
What is the yield strength of ERNiCrMo-3 PWHT-SR?
ERNiCrMo-3 PWHT-SR has a typical yield strength of 470 MPa (68.2 ksi) and a tensile strength of 790 MPa (115 ksi) — stronger than 68% of nickel alloy grades. Strength varies by condition: see the 5 listed tempers.
Is ERNiCrMo-3 PWHT-SR easy to machine?

Can ERNiCrMo-3 PWHT-SR be welded?
Yes — weldability is rated excellent (93/100). GTAW/GMAW/PAW/SAW with Ar or Ar-He shielding, low interpass (<150 °C) and stringer beads; keep dilution and sulfur/phosphorus pickup low to avoid hot cracking, no preheat needed.
What surface finishes work on ERNiCrMo-3 PWHT-SR?

What is the maximum service temperature of ERNiCrMo-3 PWHT-SR?
ERNiCrMo-3 PWHT-SR is rated for continuous use to about 900°C (1,652 °F). Strength falls off well before that limit — check the elevated-temperature data for load-bearing parts.
What is the difference between ERNiCrMo-3-AW and ERNiCrMo-3 PWHT-SA?
