What is 2419?
2419 is an Al-Cu (2000 series) plate alloy, UNS A92419, a higher-toughness variant related to 2024 for fracture-critical aerospace structure. Unlike most 2000-series alloys it is readily fusion welded with 2319 filler, so it is used for thick machined and welded plate assemblies; the default condition gives 350 MPa yield, 455 MPa tensile, 10 % elongation, 130 HB and service to 175 °C. Cold formability in T8 tempers is limited and bare surfaces pit in chloride environments, so anodize or clad plus primer is required. 2024 plate is the non-weldable alternative. 2419 has a density of 2.84 g/cm³ (0.103 lb/in³), heavier than 93% of aluminum grades. It melts at 543°C (1,009 °F). 2419 has a yield strength of 350 MPa (50.8 ksi) and a tensile strength of 455 MPa (66 ksi) — stronger than 83% of aluminum grades. Elongation at break is 10% and the elastic modulus is 73.1 GPa (10.6 Msi).

Working with 2419
Is 2419 easy to machine?
Machines well in T8 tempers with short chips; use sharp carbide tooling, high speed, generous coolant, and expect distortion if pre-stretched (T351/T851) plate is machined unevenly.
Can 2419 be welded?
One of the few readily fusion-weldable 2000-series alloys — GTAW/GMAW or FSW with 2319 filler; post-weld solution treat and age (T62) or age (T81/T87) to restore strength.
Can 2419 be formed, bent or molded?
Form in O or T3x tempers; T8 tempers have limited cold ductility and need generous bend radii or warm forming, with stretch-formed panels aged after shaping.
