Working with E630-H1150
Is E630 easy to machine?
Machine the deposit in Condition A or after over-aging (H1075/H1150); use rigid setups, sharp carbide and positive rake — chips are gummy and work-hardening is pronounced above 35 HRC.
Can E630 be welded?
Weld with DCEP (or AC for -16/-17), 100–150 °C preheat and interpass below ~150 °C, low heat input and stringer beads; redry electrodes 300–350 °C / 1 h and apply the specified solution + aging PWHT for full properties.
Can E630 be formed, bent or molded?
Not applicable as a filler; the deposited martensitic metal is essentially non-formable cold — shape by machining or grinding.
What surface finishes work on E630?
Passivate (ASTM A967 nitric or citric) or electropolish after grinding; ferrous — no anodizing. Deposit responds well to mechanical polishing when aged and can be hard-chrome or nickel plated with bake-out for hydrogen relief.
