|---|---|---|---|---|---|
impact-modified tough ESD resin | Choose for snap features, thin clips and drop-handled ESD tooling where ductility matters more than stiffness. | 40 | 25 | 75 Shore D | |
conductive / low-resistance ESD resin (10⁴–10⁶ Ω) | Pick when a grounded, near-conductive surface is required (charge draining, shielding-adjacent fixtures) and higher filler-driven brittleness is acceptable. | 45 | 3 | 84 Shore D | |
Flame-retardant ESD resin | Specify when the ESD fixture must also meet flammability requirements (rail, aerospace interiors, enclosures near live electronics). | 50 | 4 | 85 Shore D | |
ESD-STDDefault Standard static-dissipative rigid ESD resin | Default choice for ESD-safe jigs, nozzles, trays and PCB fixtures needing dissipative (not conductive) surfaces. | 52 | 6 | 82 Shore D | |
High-temperature / filled ESD resin | Use for ESD-safe fixtures that see reflow-adjacent heat, ovens or hot test stations; stiffer and more brittle than the standard grade. | 60 | 2 | 88 Shore D |
What is ESD-Safe Resin?
ESD-Safe Resin is an SLA/DLP photopolymer loaded with conductive additives to hold surface resistivity in the static-dissipative range, supplied as standard, conductive, high-temperature, tough and flame-retardant (ESD-FR) variants. It is used for electronics-handling tooling printed to shape, with 52 MPa tensile strength, 6 % elongation, 2.4 GPa modulus, 82 Shore D and 1.17 g/cm³ density. Service temperature is limited to 60 °C, the filler is abrasive and settles in the vat, and any paint or primer on functional faces destroys the ESD rating. Choose ESD-FR where a flame rating is also required. ESD-Safe Resin has a density of 1.17 g/cm³ (0.0423 lb/in³), lighter than 54% of polymer grades. Its glass-transition temperature is 68°C (154 °F). ESD-Safe Resin has a tensile strength of 52 MPa (7.54 ksi), stronger than 56% of polymer grades. Elongation at break is 6% and the elastic modulus is 2.4 GPa (0.348 Msi).
What is ESD-Safe Resin used for?
- electronics jigs and fixtures
- component trays
- cleanroom tooling
Limitations
- Difficult to weld — 5/100, worse than 89% of polymer grades
- Limited service temperature — 60°C (140 °F), worse than 87% of polymer grades
- Needs corrosion protection — 70/100, worse than 78% of polymer grades

Working with ESD-Safe Resin
Is ESD-Safe Resin easy to machine?
Drilling, tapping and light milling are possible on fully post-cured parts with sharp tools and low feed; conductive filler is abrasive and edges chip, so leave 0.2–0.3 mm stock and avoid coolant soak.
Can ESD-Safe Resin be welded?
Not weldable (crosslinked thermoset); join with cyanoacrylate/epoxy or mechanical fasteners and heat-set inserts, and verify resistance across bond lines.
Can ESD-Safe Resin be formed, bent or molded?
Vat photopolymerization only — stir/shake thoroughly before each print because conductive filler settles, print at 25–40 °C resin temperature, then wash briefly in IPA and heat post-cure per datasheet to reach rated strength and stable resistivity.

What surface finishes work on ESD-Safe Resin?
Parts are inherently black/grey; sanding, priming or painting can insulate the surface and destroy the ESD rating, so keep functional faces as-printed (or bead-blast lightly) and retest per ANSI/ESD STM11.11.
How much does ESD-Safe Resin cost?
ESD-Safe Resin is a high-cost polymer ($$$$), pricier than about 78% of the materials FabDigit quotes. Part price depends far more on geometry, tolerance and quantity than on the raw stock — upload a CAD file for a live quote.
