What is Elastico?
Elastico (FLX9895) is a clear, rubber-like UV-cured photopolymer for PolyJet material jetting, offering higher elongation and better tear resistance than earlier Tango-series flexible resins. It is chosen for transparent soft parts and is available in clear and black, in glossy or matte finish, and as DM-A40 through DM-A95 blends when a specific hardness is needed; the base grade has a density of 1.145, 2.7 MPa tensile strength and 245% elongation. Load capacity is low and the material is not weldable or machinable, so it suits fit, feel and sealing-concept prototypes rather than service parts. Cast silicone or urethane is the alternative for functional elastomer testing. Elastico has a density of 1.15 g/cm³ (0.0414 lb/in³), lighter than 59% of polymer grades. Elastico has a tensile strength of 3 MPa (0.392 ksi), weaker than 83% of polymer grades. Elongation at break is 245% and the elastic modulus is 0 GPa (2.9×10⁻⁴ Msi).
What is Elastico used for?
- clear flexible tubing mockups
- soft transparent seals
- wearable device prototypes
Advantages
- Ductile — tolerates forming and impact — 245%, better than 78% of polymer grades
Limitations
- Difficult to machine — 15/100, worse than 99% of polymer grades
- Low stiffness — 0 GPa (2.9×10⁻⁴ Msi), worse than 95% of polymer grades
- Absorbs moisture — dry before molding — 1.8%, worse than 95% of polymer grades
- Limited service temperature — 50°C (122 °F), worse than 94% of polymer grades
- Degrades in UV without stabilisers — 25/100, worse than 76% of polymer grades

Working with Elastico
Is Elastico easy to machine?
Not machinable — trim flash with a fresh scalpel or die-cut; drilling/milling tears the soft matrix.
Can Elastico be welded?
Not weldable; bond with cyanoacrylate or silicone/urethane adhesive after light surface abrasion and IPA wipe.
Can Elastico be formed, bent or molded?
Built by UV material jetting at 14–27 µm layers; keep thin flexible walls ≥0.6 mm, design support removal access, and remove SUP70x support by water jet or dilute NaOH/Na2SiO3 bath.

What surface finishes work on Elastico?
Glossy up-faces need no post-work; matte parts can be lightly dyed but not polished or plated — store parts out of sunlight and expect gradual yellowing and stiffening.

Elastico — frequently asked
What is Elastico used for?
Elastico is typically used for clear flexible tubing mockups, soft transparent seals and wearable device prototypes. In short: clear rubber-like PolyJet resin; 245% elongation; better tear resistance than Tango.
What is the tensile strength of Elastico?
Elastico has a typical tensile strength of 3 MPa (0.392 ksi) — weaker than 83% of polymer grades. Strength varies by condition: see the 7 listed tempers.
Is Elastico easy to machine?
Not especially — machinability is rated poor (15/100, worse than 99% of polymer grades). Not machinable — trim flash with a fresh scalpel or die-cut; drilling/milling tears the soft matrix.
Can Elastico be welded?
Not weldable; bond with cyanoacrylate or silicone/urethane adhesive after light surface abrasion and IPA wipe.
