What is VeroGray?

VeroGray (RGD850) is a rigid, opaque gray acrylic photopolymer for PolyJet material jetting, supplied in glossy and matte surface modes. It is a general-purpose choice for concept and appearance models where fine detail resolution and moderate strength are sufficient, with 57 MPa tensile strength, 17 % elongation and Shore D 84 hardness. The cured resin is a notch-sensitive thermoset, is neither weldable nor thermoformable, and yellows under UV, so it belongs in presentation and fit work rather than service parts. VeroBlackPlus covers the same duty in deep black. VeroGray has a density of 1.18 g/cm³ (0.0424 lb/in³), lighter than 52% of polymer grades. Its glass-transition temperature is 53°C (127 °F). VeroGray has a tensile strength of 57 MPa (8.27 ksi), stronger than 65% of polymer grades. Elongation at break is 17% and the elastic modulus is 2.5 GPa (0.363 Msi).

What is VeroGray used for?

  • concept modeling
  • form and fit prototypes
  • presentation models

Limitations

  • Limited service temperature — 45°C (113 °F), worse than 98% of polymer grades
  • Absorbs moisture — dry before molding — 1.3%, worse than 88% of polymer grades
  • Degrades in UV without stabilisers — 25/100, worse than 76% of polymer grades

Working with VeroGray

Is VeroGray easy to machine?

Drilling, tapping and light milling are possible with sharp tools and low feed, but the cured resin is notch-sensitive — avoid thin webs and coolant that contains ketones.

Can VeroGray be welded?

Thermoset, not weldable; join with cyanoacrylate or epoxy adhesives.

Can VeroGray be formed, bent or molded?

Not mouldable or thermoformable — geometry is fixed by the jetting process; keep walls ≥1 mm and avoid long unsupported spans.

What surface finishes work on VeroGray?

Support gel removed by water-jet/NaOH bath, then sand from 400→1000 grit, prime and paint or vapour/clear-coat; UV-blocking clear coat is recommended to slow yellowing.
