What is Digital ABS Plus?

Digital ABS Plus is a two-component PolyJet photopolymer (RGD515 green and RGD535 ivory) that jets as a composite to simulate ABS, with improved strength and a higher heat deflection temperature than standard rigid Vero resins. Engineers use it for functional prototypes, thin-wall housings and short-run fixtures; default values are 57 MPa tensile strength, 30% elongation, 2.8 GPa modulus, Shore D 86 and a maximum service temperature of 50 °C. It remains a thermoset, so no heat welding is possible, and the 50 °C ceiling limits hot or steam-exposed service even in HT configuration. Digital ABS Plus has a density of 1.18 g/cm³ (0.0424 lb/in³), lighter than 52% of polymer grades. Its glass-transition temperature is 50°C (122 °F). Digital ABS Plus has a tensile strength of 57 MPa (8.27 ksi), stronger than 65% of polymer grades. Elongation at break is 30% and the elastic modulus is 2.8 GPa (0.406 Msi).

Working with Digital ABS Plus

Is Digital ABS Plus easy to machine?

Drills, taps and mills cleanly with sharp tools and light feeds; keep cutters cool since the material softens near 55 °C and edges chip if unsupported.

Can Digital ABS Plus be welded?

Thermoset — no heat welding; join with cyanoacrylate, two-part epoxy or mechanical fasteners/heat-set inserts (insert temperature must be controlled).

Can Digital ABS Plus be formed, bent or molded?

Formed only by PolyJet jetting; orient parts so critical walls are >2 mm, allow full UV cure, and use a controlled oven anneal if higher HDT is needed.

What surface finishes work on Digital ABS Plus?

Remove SUP705/706 support by waterjet or caustic soak, then sand, prime and paint; parts accept vapour-free primers and standard acrylic paints but should be UV-protected for display use.
