Working with C33200-H58
Is C33200 easy to machine?
Excellent free-cutting behaviour (≈80 % of C36000); use high speeds, zero-to-negative rake brass tooling and light emulsion or dry cutting.
Can C33200 be welded?
Not recommended for fusion welding (lead causes hot cracking); join by soft soldering or silver brazing with low heat input.
Can C33200 be formed, bent or molded?
Cold form only in OS tempers and with generous radii; avoid hot working above ~600 °C because of lead hot-shortness.
What surface finishes work on C33200?
Takes bright dipping, tumbling and buffing well; nickel/chrome or tin plating standard — no anodizing, and stress-relieve to avoid SCC before plating.

C33200-H58 — frequently asked
What is C33200-H58 used for?
C33200-H58 is typically used for screw machine parts, small precision fittings and hardware. In short: free-cutting leaded tube; 80% of C36000 machinability; high-strength hard temper.
What is the yield strength of C33200-H58?
C33200-H58 has a typical yield strength of 290 MPa (42.1 ksi) and a tensile strength of 415 MPa (60.2 ksi) — stronger than 60% of copper alloy grades. Strength varies by condition: see the 7 listed tempers.
Is C33200-H58 easy to machine?
Yes — machinability is rated very good (82/100, better than 90% of copper alloy grades). Excellent free-cutting behaviour (≈80 % of C36000); use high speeds, zero-to-negative rake brass tooling and light emulsion or dry cutting.
Can C33200-H58 be welded?
Not readily — weldability is rated poor (20/100). Not recommended for fusion welding (lead causes hot cracking); join by soft soldering or silver brazing with low heat input.
