What is 6110?
6110 (EN AW-6110/6110A) is a heat-treatable Al-Mg-Si-Cu-Mn wrought alloy in which higher Si and Mg plus 0.2–0.7% Cu give T6 strength clearly above 6061 and 6082. It is used for automotive chassis forgings, extruded structural sections and high-strength machined parts, and it keeps the 6000-series family's good extrudability, forgeability and anodizing response. The copper addition reduces corrosion resistance — particularly intergranular corrosion sensitivity — and weldability relative to 6063 and 6005A, and quench and ageing practice must be tightly controlled. Use 6082-T6 where weldability or corrosion resistance matters more than peak strength. 6110 has a density of 2.71 g/cm³ (0.0979 lb/in³), heavier than 51% of aluminum grades. It melts at 580°C (1,076 °F). 6110 has a yield strength of 360 MPa (52.2 ksi) and a tensile strength of 390 MPa (56.6 ksi) — stronger than 84% of aluminum grades. Elongation at break is 12% and the elastic modulus is 70 GPa (10.2 Msi).

Working with 6110
Is 6110 easy to machine?
Machines very well in T6 with polished-flute carbide, high speed and flood coolant or MQL; sharp rake and chip breakers avoid the gummy chips seen in T4.
Can 6110 be welded?
MIG/TIG weldable with 4043 (crack resistance) or 5356 (strength/anodizing match); HAZ drops to near-T4 strength, so re-solution + age or design joints away from peak stress.
Can 6110 be formed, bent or molded?
Extrudes and hot-forges readily above 400 °C; do sheet/tube bending in O or T4 and age afterwards — T6 has limited bend radius and springback is high.
Manufacturability
The process limits FabDigit applies to 6110. Every 6110 part is priced by an engineer; design inside these and the quote comes back without a redesign loop.

What surface finishes work on 6110?
Takes clear and hard sulfuric anodizing well and accepts chromate/Ti-Zr conversion coats before e-coat; Cu content means decorative bright anodize may look slightly hazy.
