What is 6360?
6360 is a lean Al-Si-Mg-Mn extrusion alloy (A96360, AlSiMgMn) developed for high press exit speeds while retaining the anodizing quality of 6060 and 6063. Supplied as T1, T4, T5, T6, T64, T66 and O profiles, the default condition gives 190 MPa yield, 230 MPa tensile, 11 % elongation, 75 HB, 200 W/m·K and 53 % IACS, with corrosion resistance rated 72. Strength is well below 6061 or 6082, service temperature is limited to about 150 °C, and thin sections in T6/T66 tolerate only generous bend radii. 6063 is the closest substitute where extrusion productivity is not the constraint. 6360 has a density of 2.7 g/cm³ (0.0975 lb/in³), lighter than 59% of aluminum grades. It melts at 600°C (1,112 °F). 6360 has a yield strength of 190 MPa (27.6 ksi) and a tensile strength of 230 MPa (33.4 ksi) — weaker than 52% of aluminum grades. Elongation at break is 11% and the elastic modulus is 69 GPa (10 Msi).

Working with 6360
Is 6360 easy to machine?
Machines easily in T5/T6 with sharp polished-flute carbide, high speed and generous coolant/lubricant; T4 and O are gummy and prone to built-up edge.
Can 6360 be welded?
Readily GMAW/GTAW welded with 4043 (crack-safe) or 5356 (stronger, better anodizing colour match); HAZ drops to near-T4 strength unless post-weld aged.
Can 6360 be formed, bent or molded?
Designed for very high extrusion exit speeds and thin architectural sections; bend and roll-form in T1/T4/T64, avoid tight radii in T6/T66.
