Is 5352 easy to machine?
Soft and gummy — use polished high-rake carbide, high surface speed, generous coolant/lubrication and chip-clearing geometry to avoid built-up edge.
Can 5352 be welded?
Excellent GTAW/GMAW weldability with 5356 or 5183 filler; do not use 4xxx Si filler (brittle Mg2Si) and expect weld-zone strength near the O temper.
Can 5352 be formed, bent or molded?
Very good cold formability in O/H32; anneal at ~340 °C for severe draws and allow for pronounced springback and possible Lüders (stretcher-strain) marks in the annealed state.
