What is C63000?
C63000 is a wrought nickel-aluminium bronze with roughly 10% Al, 5% Ni and 3% Fe, supplied as hot-extruded or hot-rolled bar, forgings and flanges to ASTM B150 and CW307G. It combines high strength (tensile 700-850 MPa, 415 MPa yield), seawater and cavitation-erosion resistance and non-magnetic, non-sparking behaviour for marine shafting, valve stems, pump sleeves, fasteners and landing-gear bushings. Limits are poor cold formability, low electrical and thermal conductivity (7% IACS), fair machinability (about 30% of free-cutting brass) and possible selective dealuminification in hot or sulphide-polluted stagnant seawater. C63000 has a density of 7.58 g/cm³ (0.274 lb/in³), lighter than 94% of copper alloy grades. It melts at 1,043°C (1,909 °F). C63000 has a yield strength of 415 MPa (60.2 ksi) and a tensile strength of 760 MPa (110 ksi) — stronger than 82% of copper alloy grades. Elongation at break is 15% and the elastic modulus is 117 GPa (17 Msi).

Working with C63000
Is C63000 easy to machine?
Machines like a tough duplex material: rigid setups, sharp carbide with positive rake, 60–120 m/min, heavy feed and flood coolant to avoid work hardening and gummy chips (rating ≈30% of free-cutting brass).
Can C63000 be welded?
GTAW/GMAW with matching C63000/NAB filler works well; preheat 150–250 °C for heavy sections, avoid excessive heat input and interpass oxide entrapment, no post-weld quench required.
Can C63000 be formed, bent or molded?
Hot work 700–900 °C (excellent forgeability); cold forming is poor — limit to gentle bends with generous radii and interstage annealing.
Manufacturability
