What is POM-C+PTFE?
POM-C+PTFE is an acetal copolymer internally lubricated with PTFE fibre or powder to lower the friction coefficient and wear rate in unlubricated sliding contact. At 1.54 g/cm³ it offers 48 MPa tensile strength, 20% elongation, 79 Shore D and 2.7 GPa modulus, and is stocked as rod and plate and moulded into bearings, gears and wear strips; PTFE13, PTFE20, glass-plus-PTFE, silicone-blend and FDA conditions are on file. Continuous service is limited to about 100 °C, strength is below unfilled POM-C, and the surface will not hold paint, plating or adhesive without pre-treatment. Move to PTFE-filled PA or PEEK for higher PV or temperature. POM-C+PTFE has a density of 1.54 g/cm³ (0.0556 lb/in³), heavier than 90% of polymer grades. Its glass-transition temperature is -60°C (-76 °F). POM-C+PTFE has a yield strength of 46 MPa (6.67 ksi) and a tensile strength of 48 MPa (6.96 ksi) — weaker than 55% of polymer grades. Elongation at break is 20% and the elastic modulus is 2.7 GPa (0.392 Msi).

Working with POM-C+PTFE
Is POM-C+PTFE easy to machine?
Excellent: sharp positive-rake tools, high speed, light feed, air or mist cooling; stress-relieve at 120–140 °C before finish cuts to hold tight tolerances.
Can POM-C+PTFE be welded?
Practically unweldable and unbondable — PTFE migrates to the surface; use mechanical fastening, snap fits or press-fit inserts instead.
Can POM-C+PTFE be formed, bent or molded?
Injection mould at 190–210 °C melt / 70–110 °C tool with generous gates and hold pressure; expect ~1.6–2.2% shrinkage and post-mould shrinkage, avoid melt residence >10 min to prevent formaldehyde evolution.

POM-C+PTFE — frequently asked
What is POM-C+PTFE used for?
POM-C+PTFE is typically used for plain bearings and bushings, slide guides and cam followers, gears requiring low-friction operation and conveyor wear strips. In short: lowest-friction acetal grade; bearing-grade POM-C; not bondable or weldable.
What is the yield strength of POM-C+PTFE?
POM-C+PTFE has a typical yield strength of 46 MPa (6.67 ksi) and a tensile strength of 48 MPa (6.96 ksi) — weaker than 55% of polymer grades. Strength varies by condition: see the 5 listed tempers.
