What is PEEK-450G?
PEEK-450G is the de-facto industry reference designation for standard unfilled, medium-viscosity polyaryletherketone, used as the baseline resin for extrusion, injection moulding and machining stock. Engineers choose it for 250 °C continuous service, hydrolysis and chemical resistance, and good toughness at 100 MPa tensile strength with 45% elongation; it is stocked as rod, plate, tube, film and pellets. Resin cost is high, processing needs 360–400 °C melt temperatures and all-metal barrels, and unpigmented parts yellow under UV. Filled variants such as GF30, CF30 and FC30 cover higher stiffness or bearing duty. PEEK-450G has a density of 1.3 g/cm³ (0.047 lb/in³), heavier than 69% of polymer grades. Its glass-transition temperature is 143°C (289 °F). PEEK-450G has a yield strength of 100 MPa (14.5 ksi) and a tensile strength of 100 MPa (14.5 ksi) — stronger than 95% of polymer grades. Elongation at break is 45% and the elastic modulus is 3.8 GPa (0.551 Msi).
What is PEEK-450G used for?
- stock rod/plate/tube

Working with PEEK-450G
Is PEEK-450G easy to machine?
Machines like a tough engineering plastic: sharp carbide/PCD tools, high speed with light feeds, generous coolant/air to avoid heat build-up; stress-relieve (annealing 200–250 °C) before finish cuts on thick stock.
Can PEEK-450G be welded?
Joinable by ultrasonic, laser, IR/hot-plate and spin welding as well as fusion bonding of composites; solvent bonding is not possible, so adhesives require plasma or abrasive surface activation.
Can PEEK-450G be formed, bent or molded?
Dry to <0.02 % moisture (150 °C, 3 h) and inject at 360–400 °C melt with a 175–205 °C mold to develop full crystallinity; hot-runner and all-metal barrels needed, and low mold temperature gives amorphous, brittle, dimensionally unstable parts.
