What is PESU-GF30?
PESU-GF30 is polyethersulfone with about 30% short glass fiber, covered by ASTM D6402. It combines the base resin's heat and hydrolytic stability with 150 MPa tensile strength, 9.5 GPa modulus and 200 °C maximum service temperature at 1.6 g/cm³, and its low, more uniform shrinkage suits precision molded parts that resist warpage; grades on file include GF30-HF, GF30-BK, GF30-PTFE and GF30-MED. Elongation is only 2.5%, the amorphous matrix is notch- and stress-crack sensitive, and machinability is the lowest of the filled sulfones (score 45). PPSU-GF30 is the alternative where impact toughness and repeated steam sterilization outweigh peak service temperature. PESU-GF30 has a density of 1.6 g/cm³ (0.0578 lb/in³), heavier than 92% of polymer grades. Its glass-transition temperature is 222°C (432 °F). PESU-GF30 has a tensile strength of 150 MPa (21.8 ksi), stronger than 95% of polymer grades. Elongation at break is 2.5% and the elastic modulus is 9.5 GPa (1.38 Msi).

Working with PESU-GF30
Is PESU-GF30 easy to machine?
Machinable with sharp carbide or PCD tools, high speed and light feeds with air/mist cooling; glass fiber is abrasive and the amorphous matrix is notch- and stress-crack sensitive, so avoid sharp internal corners and anneal (≈180–200 °C) before finish cuts.
Can PESU-GF30 be welded?
Joined by ultrasonic, hot-plate, vibration or laser welding and by solvent-free adhesive bonding; weld-line and joint strength are limited by fiber orientation, so mechanical fasteners or molded-in inserts are common for structural loads.
Can PESU-GF30 be formed, bent or molded?
Dry pellets to <0.02 % (150 °C, 3–4 h desiccant) then injection mold at 340–380 °C melt with 140–180 °C tool; use high hot-runner temperatures, generous gates and hardened/plated screws and tooling because of fiber abrasion.
