Working with A1N30-F
Is A1N30 easy to machine?
Rarely machined; very soft and gummy — use sharp polished high-rake carbide, high speed, generous lubricant, and expect burrs on any slitting or die-cutting operation.
Can A1N30 be welded?
Excellent GTAW/GMAW/ultrasonic weldability with 1100 or 1188 filler in thicker gauges; in foil gauges joining is normally ultrasonic, resistance or adhesive lamination since fusion welding burns through.
Can A1N30 be formed, bent or molded?
Outstanding cold formability in O/H22 tempers (deep-draw pouch foil); hard H18/H19 foil work-hardens fast and should be interannealed at 300–380 °C if further forming is needed.
What surface finishes work on A1N30?
Takes clear anodizing, chemical conversion (chromate-free passivation) and PET/PP/nylon lamination well; degrease and remove rolling oil before coating, and etch (DC/AC) for capacitor foil surface area.
