What is C82600?
C82600 is a cast beryllium copper in the high-copper C80000–C82999 family, covered by ASTM B824 as Alloy 245C and strengthened by beryllium precipitation during age hardening. In the aged condition it reaches 1035 MPa yield, 1140 MPa tensile and 400 HB (43 HRC) while still conducting 105 W/m·K, which is why it is specified for mould inserts and bearings that must carry load and pull heat out of the part. It is supplied as sand, investment and permanent-mould castings, with conditions M, M01, TB00 and TF00 on file. Elongation is about 1 %, maximum service temperature is 200 °C, electrical conductivity is 20 % IACS, and beryllium-bearing dust requires wet cutting and extraction; C82500 is the lower-strength, more forgiving alternative. C82600 has a density of 8.23 g/cm³ (0.297 lb/in³), lighter than 85% of copper alloy grades. It melts at 857°C (1,575 °F). C82600 has a yield strength of 1,035 MPa (150 ksi) and a tensile strength of 1,140 MPa (165 ksi) — stronger than 100% of copper alloy grades. Elongation at break is 1% and the elastic modulus is 131 GPa (19 Msi).

Working with C82600
Is C82600 easy to machine?
Machines like a hard bronze but abrasively in the aged state — carbide tooling, positive rake, rigid setups; wet cutting plus local exhaust is mandatory to control beryllium-bearing dust.
Can C82600 be welded?
GTAW/resistance welding possible with matching BeCu filler, best done in the solution-treated state and re-aged afterwards; always weld with fume extraction.
Can C82600 be formed, bent or molded?
Supplied as sand, investment or permanent-mould castings; the aged material is essentially non-formable, so shape must come from the casting plus machining.
