Working with PPE-GF30 GF30-ESD

Is PPE-GF30 easy to machine?

Machines cleanly but the 30% glass is abrasive — use sharp carbide or PCD tools, high speed/low feed, air or mist cooling, and avoid aggressive coolants that can stress-crack the PPE.

Can PPE-GF30 be welded?

Ultrasonic, vibration and hot-plate welding all work well (amorphous, no sharp Tm); solvent bonding with chlorinated solvents is possible but risks stress cracking, and weld/knit lines lose most of the fiber reinforcement.

Can PPE-GF30 be formed, bent or molded?

Injection mold at 270–310 °C melt / 80–110 °C tool with pre-drying 2–4 h at 100–110 °C; use generous gates and hardened, wear-resistant tool steel because of glass abrasion, and expect anisotropic 0.1–0.4 % shrink with warpage in thin flat parts.

What surface finishes work on PPE-GF30?

Paints and adhesives bond well after light abrasion or plasma/flame treatment (no primer needed for many 2K PU systems); glass read-through limits high-gloss appearance, and PPE is a classic substrate for electroless plating pretreatment.

Is PPE-GF30 GF30-ESD easy to machine?

Reasonably — machinability is rated fair (45/100, worse than 78% of polymer grades). Machines cleanly but the 30% glass is abrasive — use sharp carbide or PCD tools, high speed/low feed, air or mist cooling, and avoid aggressive coolants that can stress-crack the PPE.

Can PPE-GF30 GF30-ESD be welded?

With care — weldability is rated fair (35/100). Ultrasonic, vibration and hot-plate welding all work well (amorphous, no sharp Tm); solvent bonding with chlorinated solvents is possible but risks stress cracking, and weld/knit lines lose most of the fiber reinforcement.
