|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Unfilled natural, conditioned | Property set after moisture equilibration in normal air — use this for parts in ambient/humid service; stiffness drops less than for PA6/PA66 because PA610 absorbs about half the water. | 42 | 44 | 220 | 74 Shore D |
Impact-modified | Elastomer-toughened compound for snap-fits, cold-impact and vibration-loaded parts where notch sensitivity matters more than stiffness. | 45 | 250 | 70 Shore D | |
Internally lubricated bearing grade | Lower friction and wear for unlubricated bushings, slides, gears and cams; MoS₂ types also act as nucleants improving crystallinity and stiffness. | 54 | 55 | 40 | 80 Shore D |

What is PA610?
PA610 (Zytel 71G) is a partially bio-based polyamide polymerized from hexamethylenediamine and sebacic acid, available unfilled (dry-as-moulded or conditioned), with 15–30% glass, heat-stabilized, UV-black, lubricated and high-viscosity extrusion grades. It absorbs less moisture and holds dimensions better than PA6/PA66, and at 1.08 g/cm3, 60 MPa tensile, 58 MPa yield, 120% elongation and 2.2 GPa modulus it suits extruded monofilament, tubing and injection-moulded parts. Continuous service is limited to about 95 °C with Tg near 50 °C, and the low-energy surface needs pretreatment for paint or adhesive. Availability is narrower than PA66; PA612 is the closest substitute. PA610 has a density of 1.08 g/cm³ (0.039 lb/in³), lighter than 67% of polymer grades. Its glass-transition temperature is 50°C (122 °F). PA610 has a yield strength of 58 MPa (8.41 ksi) and a tensile strength of 60 MPa (8.7 ksi) — stronger than 66% of polymer grades. Elongation at break is 120% and the elastic modulus is 2.2 GPa (0.319 Msi).

Working with PA610
Is PA610 easy to machine?
Machines like other cast/extruded nylons — sharp positive-rake tools, high speed, low feed, air or mist cooling; stress-relieve and allow for post-machining moisture pickup on precision parts.
Can PA610 be welded?
Joins well by hot-plate, vibration, ultrasonic, spin and hot-gas welding; adhesive bonding needs plasma/primer pretreatment because of low surface energy.
Can PA610 be formed, bent or molded?
Dry pellets to <0.10 % moisture (80 °C, 4–6 h desiccant), melt 240–275 °C, mold 50–100 °C; use warm molds and generous gates for gears to control the 1.0–2.0 % shrinkage and post-mold shrink.
