Working with Laperos GF40

Is Laperos easy to machine?

Machines cleanly but is abrasive and prone to skin delamination and chipping — use sharp carbide/diamond tooling, high speed, light feed and support thin walls; molded-in features are preferred to machining.

Can Laperos be welded?

Not solvent- or hot-plate weldable in practice; laser and ultrasonic welding work only with joint design allowing for very weak, highly oriented weld interfaces — snap-fits, insert molding and adhesive-free press fits are the norm.

Can Laperos be formed, bent or molded?

Dry 3–4 h at 130–150 °C, melt 290–330 °C (high-heat series 340–390 °C), mold 60–130 °C, very fast injection with generous venting; design for near-zero flow shrinkage but 4–8× higher transverse shrinkage and place gates to control weld lines.

What surface finishes work on Laperos?

Accepts vacuum metallization, sputtering, LDS/laser-activated plating and reflow soldering directly; painting and adhesive bonding need plasma or corona pre-treatment because the surface is chemically inert and fibrous.
