| Condition · open for datasheet | Best for | Yield MPa | Tensile MPa | Elong. % | Hardness | Conductivity |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Solution annealed weld metal | Pick when the joint must be homogenised (Laves dissolution) and kept soft/ductile for later forming, re-welding or corrosion service rather than for strength. | 450 | 850 | 35 | 210 HB | 1.4 % IACS |
AWDefault As-welded deposit | Default condition for procedure qualification and repairs where no post-weld heat treatment is possible; moderate strength, best ductility and toughness. | 550 | 830 | 25 | 24 HRC | — |
Direct aged | Use when a solution treatment would coarsen or distort the assembly: gives most of the strength of a full STA cycle straight from the as-welded condition. | 950 | 1,170 | 15 | 40 HRC | — |

What is ERNiFeCr-2?
ERNiFeCr-2 is a nickel-iron-chromium filler wire (UNS N06054, AWS A5.14 family) formulated for improved resistance to ductility-dip and hot cracking, used for critical dissimilar-metal welds in nuclear primary systems and for welding Alloy 690. It is supplied as drawn wire and cut rod and is available as-welded, solution-annealed, aged and solution-treated-and-aged; aged deposits reach about 550 MPa yield, 830 MPa tensile, 25 % elongation and 24 HRC. Service is limited to 600 °C, as-aged ductility is low and machinability is poor (score 30); ERNiCrMo-3 (Alloy 625 filler) is the usual alternative when age hardening is not needed. ERNiFeCr-2 has a density of 8.19 g/cm³ (0.296 lb/in³), lighter than 68% of nickel alloy grades. It melts at 1,260°C (2,300 °F). ERNiFeCr-2 has a yield strength of 550 MPa (79.8 ksi) and a tensile strength of 830 MPa (120 ksi) — stronger than 79% of nickel alloy grades. Elongation at break is 25% and the elastic modulus is 200 GPa (29 Msi).

Working with ERNiFeCr-2
Is ERNiFeCr-2 easy to machine?
Aged weld metal machines like Alloy 718 — low speed, heavy positive-rake carbide or ceramic tooling, rigid setups and flood coolant; work hardens fast, so avoid dwelling.
Can ERNiFeCr-2 be welded?
Use GTAW/GMAW with argon (or Ar-He) shielding, low heat input and interpass ≤150 °C to limit Laves segregation; keep restraint low and consider a homogenising solution treatment before ageing to avoid strain-age/liquation cracking.
Can ERNiFeCr-2 be formed, bent or molded?
Supplied as drawn wire or cut rod; heavy cold forming of the deposit is impractical because of high work-hardening rate and low as-aged ductility.
