Working with PVC-P FR-V0

Is PVC-P easy to machine?

Machinable but gummy — use sharp positive-rake tools, high rake angles, generous chip clearance and low cutting speed with air cooling; die-cutting, slitting and waterjet are usually preferred over milling.

Can PVC-P be welded?

Excellent high-frequency (dielectric) and hot-air/hot-wedge weldability due to the polar C–Cl bond; solvent bonding with THF/MEK cements and hot-plate welding also work; avoid overheating, which liberates HCl.

Can PVC-P be formed, bent or molded?

Extruded, calendered, injection or dip-molded at 155–195 °C melt with mold 20–55 °C; keep residence time short and use stainless or hard-chromed, well-vented tooling since degradation releases corrosive HCl.

What surface finishes work on PVC-P?

Accepts embossing, printing with PVC-compatible inks and lacquer topcoats; surfaces should be cleaned of plasticizer bloom before bonding, and plasticizer migration must be checked against adjacent paints, PC/ABS parts and elastomers.

PVC-P FR-V0 — frequently asked

What is PVC-P FR-V0 used for?

PVC-P FR-V0 is typically used for electrical wire & cable insulation/jacketing, flexible tubing and hose, vinyl flooring and film/sheet and inflatable products and gaskets. In short: flexible, RF-weldable PVC; low-cost cable insulation; 300 % elongation.

What is the tensile strength of PVC-P FR-V0?

PVC-P FR-V0 has a typical tensile strength of 14 MPa (2.03 ksi) — weaker than 75% of polymer grades. Strength varies by condition: see the 10 listed tempers.

Is PVC-P FR-V0 easy to machine?

Not especially — machinability is rated poor (30/100, worse than 87% of polymer grades). Machinable but gummy — use sharp positive-rake tools, high rake angles, generous chip clearance and low cutting speed with air cooling; die-cutting, slitting and waterjet are usually preferred over milling.

Can PVC-P FR-V0 be welded?

Yes — weldability is rated excellent (88/100). Excellent high-frequency (dielectric) and hot-air/hot-wedge weldability due to the polar C–Cl bond; solvent bonding with THF/MEK cements and hot-plate welding also work; avoid overheating, which liberates HCl.

What surface finishes work on PVC-P FR-V0?

What is the maximum service temperature of PVC-P FR-V0?

PVC-P FR-V0 is rated for continuous use to about 70°C (158 °F), and briefly to 100°C. Strength falls off well before that limit — check the elevated-temperature data for load-bearing parts.

What is the difference between PVC-P SHA80 and PVC-P CLR?

SHA80 is the default condition — default flexible PVC: wire insulation, hose, profiles and moulded plugs; best all-round property/price balance. CLR: pick for sight-glass tubing, transparent hose and flexible windows where flow visibility is required.
