Recycled-content EPS board | Use boards blended with 10-30% recycled EPS regrind for non-load-bearing levelling layers and packaging where lower cost outweighs reduced strength and appearance consistency. | 0.1 | 2.5
Flame-retardant EPS, GB 8624 B1 (B) fire class | Choose the polymeric brominated flame-retardant version with oxygen index of at least 30% when external wall insulation codes mandate the GB 8624 B1 class; service limit is 70 °C. | 0.12 | 2.5

What is GB/T 10801.1 Type I?
GB/T 10801.1 Type I is the lowest density and strength class of moulded expanded polystyrene (EPS) board in the GB/T 10801.1 family, supplied at 0.018 g/cm³ with a thermal conductivity of 0.040 W/m·K. Engineers specify it where cost per unit of thermal resistance matters more than compressive strength: general building insulation boards, block-cut sheet and protective packaging. It is available with B2 or B1 flame-retardant treatment, as graphite-enhanced GEPS and with recycled content. The material carries almost no load, is attacked by solvents and UV and always needs a facing; move to Type II or III when compressive strength or dimensional stability is critical. GB/T 10801.1 Type I has a density of 0.02 g/cm³ (6.5×10⁻⁴ lb/in³), lighter than 99% of polymer grades. Its glass-transition temperature is 100°C (212 °F). GB/T 10801.1 Type I has a tensile strength of 0.13 MPa (0.0189 ksi), weaker than 98% of polymer grades. Elongation at break is 3% and the elastic modulus is 0 GPa (3.63×10⁻⁴ Msi).

Working with GB/T 10801.1 Type I
Is GB/T 10801.1 Type I easy to machine?
Resistance hot-wire cutting is the first choice and gives a smooth, chip-free face; band saws, blades and CNC hot-wire all work, while milling produces large amounts of static-clinging debris.
Can GB/T 10801.1 Type I be welded?
There is no melt-welding process; blocks are joined by steam re-fusion, hot-air welding or dedicated EPS adhesives (water-based or polyurethane). Solvent-containing adhesives must not be used.
Can GB/T 10801.1 Type I be formed, bent or molded?
Pre-expanded beads are aged, then re-expanded and fused in a steam mould at roughly 105–120 °C into large blocks, which are cut lengthwise and crosswise into board. Leave 2–3% dimensional allowance for cutting.

What surface finishes work on GB/T 10801.1 Type I?
The surface must be covered with polymer cement mortar plus mesh cloth, or with a panel facing. Use water-based coatings only — solvent-based coatings attack the foam — and keep the material out of direct light in long-term exposed positions.
How much does GB/T 10801.1 Type I cost?
GB/T 10801.1 Type I is a standard-cost polymer ($$), cheaper than about 71% of the materials FabDigit quotes. Part price depends far more on geometry, tolerance and quantity than on the raw stock — upload a CAD file for a live quote.
