What is TiO2 Ceramic?
TiO2 Ceramic is a sintered titania body with a high dielectric constant, offered here in 99 % and 95 % purity, in a reduced semiconducting condition and as anatase photocatalytic powder. It is used for capacitor bodies, dielectric resonators and thermistor elements, and is normally pressed, extruded or tape cast into discs, tubes and substrates. Density is 4.15 g/cm³, elastic modulus 250 GPa, thermal conductivity only 7 W/m·K and maximum service temperature 1100 °C. Reducing atmospheres blacken the ceramic and destroy insulation resistance; alumina is the alternative where structural insulation matters more than permittivity. TiO2 Ceramic has a density of 4.15 g/cm³ (0.15 lb/in³), lighter than 57% of ceramic grades. It melts at 1,843°C (3,349 °F). TiO2 Ceramic has a tensile strength of 80 MPa (11.6 ksi), weaker than 53% of ceramic grades. The elastic modulus is 250 GPa (36.3 Msi).

Working with TiO2 Ceramic
Is TiO2 Ceramic easy to machine?
Green/bisque machining is the economical route; fired titania needs diamond grinding, EDM is impossible for the insulating grades (possible on reduced conductive TiOx).
Can TiO2 Ceramic be welded?
Not weldable — joined by glass frit, active-brazing (Ti/Ag-Cu ABA) or ceramic adhesive; metallise with Mo-Mn+Ni for hermetic seals.
Can TiO2 Ceramic be formed, bent or molded?
Dry pressing, isostatic pressing, extrusion or tape casting of doctor-bladed slurry; sinter 1250–1500 °C in air with slow cooling to keep stoichiometry.

What surface finishes work on TiO2 Ceramic?
Lap and diamond-polish for flatness/optical work; avoid reducing furnace atmospheres or firing on carbon setters, which blacken the surface and kill insulation resistance.
