What is MgTiO3?
MgTiO3 (C-320) is a magnesium titanate dielectric ceramic classified to IEC 60672 class C-320, offering high permittivity with low dielectric loss. It is pressed, extruded or tape cast into discs, tubes, resonator pucks and capacitor bodies for temperature-compensating and microwave use, and is held in STD, MCT-0 and HQ conditions. It is not a structural material: machinability is poor (score 5), thermal conductivity is 4.5 W/m·K and maximum service temperature is 1000 °C, so parts are shaped green with 15–18 % firing shrinkage. Alumina is the choice where low permittivity is wanted. MgTiO3 has a density of 3.8 g/cm³ (0.137 lb/in³), lighter than 61% of ceramic grades. It melts at 1,630°C (2,966 °F). MgTiO3 has a tensile strength of 70 MPa (10.2 ksi), weaker than 60% of ceramic grades. Elongation at break is 0% and the elastic modulus is 150 GPa (21.8 Msi).

Working with MgTiO3
Is MgTiO3 easy to machine?
Machine in the green or bisque state (turning, drilling, CNC milling) with ~15–18 % firing shrinkage allowance; fired parts require diamond grinding, lapping or laser scribing only.
Can MgTiO3 be welded?
Not weldable — join by active-brazing (Ag-Cu-Ti) or glass frit; metallise with fired Ag/Mo-Mn + Ni for solderable electrodes.
Can MgTiO3 be formed, bent or molded?
Dry pressing, isostatic pressing, extrusion or tape casting of spray-dried powder, then sintering at ~1350–1470 °C in air with slow heat-up to burn out binder.
