Grade · open for datasheetBest forYield MPaTensile MPaElong. %Hardness
Chopped/short-fiber thermoplastic compound
Pick the chopped-fiber PA, PPS or PEEK compound for injection-molded parts that need stiffness, electrical conduction and dimensional stability rather than structural strength (220 MPa tensile).2201.8
Woven fabric/epoxy laminate
Pick the 3K plain or twill weave laminate at ~55 vol% fiber for curved shells and cosmetic parts: quasi-isotropic in-plane properties, better impact tolerance and drape, but lower 0° stiffness.8001.3
UD/bismaleimide laminate
Choose the bismaleimide prepreg when the part must run 150–230 °C continuously, as in engine nacelles and supersonic skins; the cure temperature is high and the process window narrow.1,7001.2
UD/epoxy laminate
Use the ~60 vol% unidirectional prepreg cured at 120–180 °C as the baseline for aerospace secondary and primary structure: 0° stiffness and strength are highest, transverse properties are resin-controlled.1,7501.3
12000-filament tow
Choose the 12000-filament tow for filament-wound cylinders, pultruded profiles and unidirectional prepreg; it is the workhorse small-tow size and gives the lowest cost per kilogram of fiber.3,5001.5
3KDefault
3000-filament tow, sized for epoxy
Use the 3000-filament epoxy-sized tow as the standard small tow for fabrics, filament winding and high-performance prepreg, where drape and surface quality are best.3,5301.6
1000-filament tow
Pick the 1000-filament tow for thin fabrics, fine braids and lightweight cosmetic laminates; fiber properties stay at 3530 MPa and 230 GPa, but unit price is the highest.3,5301.6
6000-filament tow
Choose the 6000-filament tow as the compromise for fabrics and winding, retaining acceptable drape while covering area faster than finer tows.3,5301.6

What is CCF300?

CCF300 is a standard-modulus PAN-based carbon fiber of the T300 class, produced by AVIC, Zhongfu Shenying and others as an import substitute, and offered in 1K, 3K, 6K and 12K tow with UD and fabric epoxy prepreg, BMI prepreg, filament-winding and carbon-filled PA compound forms. It provides 3530 MPa tensile strength, 230 GPa modulus and 1.55 % elongation at 1.78 g/cm3 at lower cost than aerospace-qualified imports. Interlaminar performance depends on sizing-to-resin match, laminates are not weldable, and qualification data is narrower than for long-established fibers. CCF700 or T700 is the step up in strength. CCF300 has a density of 1.78 g/cm³ (0.0643 lb/in³), heavier than 53% of composite grades. CCF300 has a tensile strength of 3,530 MPa (512 ksi), stronger than 88% of composite grades. Elongation at break is 1.6% and the elastic modulus is 230 GPa (33.4 Msi).

Working with CCF300

Is CCF300 easy to machine?

Cut cured parts dry with PCD or diamond-coated tooling at high speed and low feed with dust extraction. Back up drilled holes with a sacrificial plate to prevent delamination; the dust is conductive and harmful, so collect it under negative pressure.

Can CCF300 be welded?

Thermoset laminates cannot be welded; join by adhesive bonding or mechanical fasteners. Chopped carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastics can be ultrasonically or laser welded, but joint strength is substantially reduced.

Can CCF300 be formed, bent or molded?

Process by autoclave prepreg cure (120 °C or 180 °C, 0.4–0.6 MPa), compression moulding, or RTM/VARI liquid moulding. Design wound parts around tension and wind angle, and control resin content to keep void content below 2 %.

What surface finishes work on CCF300?

After sanding, remove all dust and seal with epoxy primer. Cosmetic parts take clear coat or a UV-blocking topcoat to protect the resin; at aluminum or steel joints add glass cloth or polysulfide sealant as galvanic isolation.
