What is SAC0307?
SAC0307 is a low-silver lead-free tin-silver-copper solder (Sn-0.3Ag-0.7Cu) used where the silver cost of SAC305 is a concern but RoHS compliance is still required. Engineers specify it for wave, selective and reflow assembly, and it is stocked as bar, wire, solder paste, balls and stamped preforms. The alloy is soft and ductile — 32 MPa tensile, 25 MPa yield, 40 % elongation, 13 HB — so joints are electrical and thermal connections rather than structural members. Wave pots typically run at 255–275 °C and reflow peaks at 235–250 °C; SAC305 is the nearest alternative when joint reliability outweighs silver cost. SAC0307 has a density of 7.38 g/cm³ (0.267 lb/in³), lighter than 74% of solder & low-melting alloy grades. It melts at 217°C (423 °F). SAC0307 has a yield strength of 25 MPa (3.63 ksi) and a tensile strength of 32 MPa (4.64 ksi) — weaker than 61% of solder & low-melting alloy grades. Elongation at break is 40% and the elastic modulus is 47 GPa (6.82 Msi).
What is SAC0307 used for?

Advantages
- Conducts heat well — 60 W/m·K (34.7 BTU/hr·ft·°F), better than 89% of solder & low-melting alloy grades

Working with SAC0307
Is SAC0307 easy to machine?
Very soft and gummy — machining is rarely done; use sharp positive-rake tools, high speed and no coolant-induced smearing if trimming preforms.
Can SAC0307 be welded?
Not fusion welded; the alloy itself is the filler — pot temperature typically 255–275 °C for wave, 235–250 °C peak for reflow.
Can SAC0307 be formed, bent or molded?
Extrudes and rolls easily into wire, ribbon and stamped preforms at room temperature; atomises well into Type 3–5 paste powder.
