What is TPE-S (SEBS)?
TPE-S (SEBS) is a hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer compound to GB/T 22014, ranging from SH00-30 to SHA90 with PA/PC-bondable overmould, FR-V0, UV, MED-FDA, ESD, mineral-filled and foamable versions. Saturating the mid-block gives better UV, heat and weathering resistance than SBS, which makes it the default two-shot soft-touch overmould compound as well as an extruded jacket and gasket material; the default compound has 6 MPa tensile strength, 650 % elongation, 0.90 g/cm3 density and service to 85 °C. Strength and oil resistance stay well below TPU, and soft grades are gummy to machine. Where abrasion or oil contact governs, use TPU-Ester. TPE-S (SEBS) has a density of 0.9 g/cm³ (0.0325 lb/in³), lighter than 82% of polymer grades. Its glass-transition temperature is -55°C (-67 °F). TPE-S (SEBS) has a tensile strength of 6 MPa (0.87 ksi), weaker than 82% of polymer grades. Elongation at break is 650% and the elastic modulus is 0.01 GPa (8.7×10⁻⁴ Msi).

Working with TPE-S (SEBS)
Is TPE-S (SEBS) easy to machine?
Rarely machined — gummy and low-modulus; use very sharp, high-rake or water-jet/die cutting, and freeze or support thin sections.
Can TPE-S (SEBS) be welded?
Joins well by hot-plate, hot-air and ultrasonic (soft grades damp ultrasound); best practice is 2K injection overmolding, and PP-carrier grades bond only to PP/PE unless a polar-compatible grade is chosen.
Can TPE-S (SEBS) be formed, bent or molded?
Injection mold at 170–230 °C melt with 15–50 °C tool, dry 2–3 h at 60–70 °C if hygroscopic additives are present; large shrinkage (1–3 %) and generous gates/vents for soft grades; also extrudes and blow molds.

What surface finishes work on TPE-S (SEBS)?
Surface is defined by the tool texture — cannot be polished or painted reliably; pad printing and laser marking work with proper pretreatment, and matte EDM texture hides flow marks best.
