Precious Metal PdNi-H02 vs PdNi-H04
Precious Metal · PdNi temper comparison
PdNi-H02 and PdNi-H04 are two conditions of the same precious metal grade, PdNi: H02 (half hard) versus H04 (full hard). The chemistry is identical, so every difference below comes from the condition. PdNi-H04 is the stronger of the two: yield strength 850 MPa (123 ksi) against 600 MPa (87 ksi) for PdNi-H02, about 42% more; tensile strength follows at 950 MPa (138 ksi) vs 750 MPa (109 ksi). In exchange, PdNi-H02 is the more ductile: elongation 8% versus 2% for PdNi-H04, and PdNi-H04 is harder (270 HB vs 200 HB). PdNi-H02 runs hotter in service (400°C vs 300°C continuous). On the shop floor, PdNi-H02 welds better (good vs fair).

PdNi-H04Choose it when strength drives the design.
PdNi-H02 vs PdNi-H04: propertiesHow to read these bars
- One bar per material. A full bar is the highest value among all precious metal grades in the FabDigit library; each bar is drawn as a share of that.
- The better value (by the usual engineering direction) is in bold. Rows with no direction — density, thermal conductivity — have no bold.
- Values are typical room-temperature figures for the condition named on each card.
- Confirm against the certified mill or resin datasheet before design release.

PdNi-H02 vs PdNi-H04 — frequently asked
Is PdNi-H04 stronger than PdNi-H02?
Yes. PdNi-H04 has a typical yield strength of 850 MPa (123 ksi) against 600 MPa (87 ksi) for PdNi-H02 — about 42% more. Tensile strength is 950 MPa (138 ksi) vs 750 MPa (109 ksi).
Which condition does FabDigit quote by default, H02 or H04?
M is the default PdNi condition in the FabDigit quote flow (neither H02 nor H04). The other condition is available on request or by drawing note — specify it in the material field or the part notes and the quote is priced for it.
Which is easier to machine, PdNi-H02 or PdNi-H04?
PdNi-H04, by a small margin. Both rate fair for machinability — 40/100 against 35/100 for PdNi-H02; for welding the order is PdNi-H02 first (good, 55/100) then PdNi-H04 (fair, 45/100).

Upload a CAD file and FabDigit prices the part in PdNi-H02 and PdNi-H04 side by side — material, machining time, tolerance and finish in one quote. Certified material data ships with the order on request.
Typical handbook values for the conditions named above, normalised for comparison. Hardness on non-Brinell scales is converted approximately for charting only. Request certified data with your order for design-critical properties.
