TP-PI GF30 vs TP-PI MoS2

Polymer · TP-PI grade comparison

TP-PI GF30 and TP-PI MoS2 are two grades of the same polymer grade, TP-PI: GF30 (30 % glass-fiber reinforced) versus MoS2 (15 % molybdenum disulfide filled). The chemistry is identical, so every difference below comes from the condition. TP-PI GF30 is the stronger of the two: tensile strength 165 MPa (23.9 ksi) against 60 MPa (8.7 ksi) for TP-PI MoS2, about 175% more. In exchange, TP-PI MoS2 is the more ductile: elongation 3.5% versus 3% for TP-PI GF30. TP-PI GF30 is lighter (1.55 g/cm³ vs 1.6 g/cm³ for TP-PI MoS2) and TP-PI GF30 is stiffer (9.5 GPa vs 4.2 GPa). On the shop floor, TP-PI MoS2 machines more easily (good vs fair).
