POM GF30 vs POM MoS2
Polymer · POM grade comparison
POM GF30 and POM MoS2 are two grades of the same polymer grade, POM: GF30 (30% glass fiber reinforced) versus MoS2 (molybdenum disulfide filled). The chemistry is identical, so every difference below comes from the condition. POM GF30 is the stronger of the two: yield strength 62 MPa (8.99 ksi) against 58 MPa (8.41 ksi) for POM MoS2, about 7% more; tensile strength follows at 135 MPa (19.6 ksi) vs 60 MPa (8.7 ksi). In exchange, POM MoS2 is the more ductile: elongation 15% versus 2.5% for POM GF30. POM MoS2 is lighter (1.43 g/cm³ vs 1.63 g/cm³ for POM GF30) and POM GF30 is stiffer (9.5 GPa vs 3 GPa). On the shop floor, POM MoS2 machines more easily (excellent vs good) and POM GF30 welds better (good vs fair).
POM GF30Choose it when strength drives the design, or when it will be welded.
POM MoS2Choose it when the part is bent, formed or impact-loaded, or when weight is the constraint.
POM GF30 vs POM MoS2: propertiesHow to read these bars
- One bar per material. A full bar is the highest value among all polymer grades in the FabDigit library; each bar is drawn as a share of that.
- The better value (by the usual engineering direction) is in bold. Rows with no direction — density, thermal conductivity — have no bold.
- Values are typical room-temperature figures for the condition named on each card.
- Confirm against the certified mill or resin datasheet before design release.

POM GF30 vs POM MoS2 — frequently asked
Is POM GF30 stronger than POM MoS2?
Yes. POM GF30 has a typical yield strength of 62 MPa (8.99 ksi) against 58 MPa (8.41 ksi) for POM MoS2 — about 7% more. Tensile strength is 135 MPa (19.6 ksi) vs 60 MPa (8.7 ksi).
Which grade does FabDigit quote by default, GF30 or MoS2?
Specify the condition in the material field or the drawing note; FabDigit prices the quote for the state you call out.
Which is easier to machine, POM GF30 or POM MoS2?
POM MoS2. Its machinability rates excellent (90/100) against good (55/100) for POM GF30; for welding the order is POM GF30 first (good, 55/100) then POM MoS2 (fair, 40/100).
