Nickel Alloy ENi-1 vs ENiCu-7

Nickel Alloy · grade comparison

Nickel Alloy ENi-1 and ENiCu-7 are both nickel alloy grades. ENiCu-7 is the stronger of the two: yield strength 290 MPa (42.1 ksi) against 250 MPa (36.3 ksi) for ENi-1, about 16% more; tensile strength follows at 520 MPa (75.4 ksi) vs 440 MPa (63.8 ksi). ENiCu-7 is the more ductile: elongation 35% versus 30% for ENi-1, and ENiCu-7 is harder (165 HB vs 100 HB). ENi-1 is stiffer (200 GPa vs 179 GPa) and ENiCu-7 runs hotter in service (480°C vs 400°C continuous). On the shop floor, ENi-1 machines more easily (fair vs poor) and ENi-1 welds better (excellent vs very good).

ENi-1Choose it when the part is machined in volume, or when it will be welded.

ENiCu-7Choose it when strength drives the design, or when the part is bent, formed or impact-loaded.

ENi-1 vs ENiCu-7 — frequently asked

Is ENiCu-7 stronger than ENi-1?

Yes. ENiCu-7 has a typical yield strength of 290 MPa (42.1 ksi) against 250 MPa (36.3 ksi) for ENi-1 — about 16% more. Tensile strength is 520 MPa (75.4 ksi) vs 440 MPa (63.8 ksi).

Which is cheaper, ENi-1 or ENiCu-7?

Both sit in the same relative cost tier ($$$$, high); the part price will be decided by machining time, tolerance and quantity rather than by the material.

Which is easier to machine, ENi-1 or ENiCu-7?

ENi-1. Its machinability rates fair (42/100) against poor (30/100) for ENiCu-7; for welding the order is ENi-1 first (excellent, 85/100) then ENiCu-7 (very good, 72/100).
