Magnesium Alloy LA141A-F vs LA141A-T7
Magnesium Alloy · LA141A temper comparison
LA141A-F and LA141A-T7 are two conditions of the same magnesium alloy grade, LA141A: F (as fabricated) versus T7 (solution heat treated and overaged (stabilized)). The chemistry is identical, so every difference below comes from the condition. LA141A-T7 is the stronger of the two: yield strength 117 MPa (17 ksi) against 110 MPa (16 ksi) for LA141A-F, about 6% more. In exchange, LA141A-F is the more ductile: elongation 20% versus 18% for LA141A-T7, and LA141A-T7 is harder (55 HB vs 52 HB).

LA141A-F vs LA141A-T7: propertiesHow to read these bars
- One bar per material. A full bar is the highest value among all magnesium alloy grades in the FabDigit library; each bar is drawn as a share of that.
- The better value (by the usual engineering direction) is in bold. Rows with no direction — density, thermal conductivity — have no bold.
- Values are typical room-temperature figures for the condition named on each card.
- Confirm against the certified mill or resin datasheet before design release.

LA141A-F vs LA141A-T7 — frequently asked
Is LA141A-T7 stronger than LA141A-F?
Yes. LA141A-T7 has a typical yield strength of 117 MPa (17 ksi) against 110 MPa (16 ksi) for LA141A-F — about 6% more. Tensile strength is 150 MPa (21.8 ksi) vs 145 MPa (21 ksi).
Which condition does FabDigit quote by default, F or T7?
T7 is the default LA141A condition in the FabDigit quote flow. The other condition is available on request or by drawing note — specify it in the material field or the part notes and the quote is priced for it.
When should I choose LA141A-F over LA141A-T7?
Pick LA141A-F when the part is bent, formed or impact-loaded. Pick LA141A-T7 when strength drives the design.
