Copper Alloy T2-H08 vs T2-H80
Copper Alloy · T2 temper comparison
T2-H08 and T2-H80 are two conditions of the same copper alloy grade, T2: H08 (spring hard) versus H80 (hard drawn). The chemistry is identical, so every difference below comes from the condition. T2-H08 is the stronger of the two: yield strength 365 MPa (52.9 ksi) against 80 MPa (11.6 ksi) for T2-H80, about 4.6 times as much; tensile strength follows at 400 MPa (58 ksi) vs 225 MPa (32.6 ksi). In exchange, T2-H80 is the more ductile: elongation 42% versus 4% for T2-H08, and T2-H08 is harder (110 HB vs 45 HB). T2-H80 runs hotter in service (200°C vs 120°C continuous). On the shop floor, T2-H08 machines more easily (fair vs poor).
T2-H08Choose it when strength drives the design, or when the part is machined in volume.
T2-H80Choose it when the part is bent, formed or impact-loaded, or when the part sees heat.
T2-H08 vs T2-H80: propertiesHow to read these bars
- One bar per material. A full bar is the highest value among all copper alloy grades in the FabDigit library; each bar is drawn as a share of that.
- The better value (by the usual engineering direction) is in bold. Rows with no direction — density, thermal conductivity — have no bold.
- Values are typical room-temperature figures for the condition named on each card.
- Confirm against the certified mill or resin datasheet before design release.

T2-H08 vs T2-H80 — frequently asked
Is T2-H08 stronger than T2-H80?
Yes. T2-H08 has a typical yield strength of 365 MPa (52.9 ksi) against 80 MPa (11.6 ksi) for T2-H80 — about 4.6 times as much. Tensile strength is 400 MPa (58 ksi) vs 225 MPa (32.6 ksi).
Which condition does FabDigit quote by default, H08 or H80?
M is the default T2 condition in the FabDigit quote flow (neither H08 nor H80). The other condition is available on request or by drawing note — specify it in the material field or the part notes and the quote is priced for it.
Which is easier to machine, T2-H08 or T2-H80?
T2-H08. Its machinability rates fair (35/100) against poor (25/100) for T2-H80; for welding the order is T2-H80 first (fair, 40/100) then T2-H08 (fair, 35/100).
