Aluminum V96-T1 vs V96-T2
Aluminum · V96 temper comparison
V96-T1 and V96-T2 are two conditions of the same aluminum grade, V96: T1 (cooled from hot working and naturally aged) versus T2 (cooled from hot working, cold worked and naturally aged). The chemistry is identical, so every difference below comes from the condition. V96-T1 is the stronger of the two: yield strength 620 MPa (89.9 ksi) against 500 MPa (72.5 ksi) for V96-T2, about 24% more; tensile strength follows at 660 MPa (95.7 ksi) vs 570 MPa (82.7 ksi). In exchange, V96-T2 is the more ductile: elongation 8% versus 6% for V96-T1, and V96-T1 is harder (190 HB vs 165 HB). V96-T2 runs hotter in service (150°C vs 120°C continuous) and V96-T2 conducts heat better (155 W/m·K vs 130 W/m·K).
V96-T1Choose it when strength drives the design.
V96-T2Choose it when the part is bent, formed or impact-loaded, or when the part sees heat.
V96-T1 vs V96-T2: propertiesHow to read these bars
- One bar per material. A full bar is the highest value among all aluminum grades in the FabDigit library; each bar is drawn as a share of that.
- The better value (by the usual engineering direction) is in bold. Rows with no direction — density, thermal conductivity — have no bold.
- Values are typical room-temperature figures for the condition named on each card.
- Confirm against the certified mill or resin datasheet before design release.

V96-T1 vs V96-T2 — frequently asked
Is V96-T1 stronger than V96-T2?
Yes. V96-T1 has a typical yield strength of 620 MPa (89.9 ksi) against 500 MPa (72.5 ksi) for V96-T2 — about 24% more. Tensile strength is 660 MPa (95.7 ksi) vs 570 MPa (82.7 ksi).
Which condition does FabDigit quote by default, T1 or T2?
T1 is the default V96 condition in the FabDigit quote flow. The other condition is available on request or by drawing note — specify it in the material field or the part notes and the quote is priced for it.
When should I choose V96-T1 over V96-T2?
Pick V96-T1 when strength drives the design. Pick V96-T2 when the part is bent, formed or impact-loaded, or when the part sees heat.

Upload a CAD file and FabDigit prices the part in V96-T1 and V96-T2 side by side — material, machining time, tolerance and finish in one quote. Certified material data ships with the order on request.
