Steel En30B Cond X vs En30B Normalized
Steel · En30B temper comparison
En30B Cond X and En30B Normalized are two conditions of the same steel grade, En30B: Cond X (condition X) versus Normalized. The chemistry is identical, so every difference below comes from the condition. En30B Cond X is the stronger of the two: yield strength 1,050 MPa (152 ksi) against 700 MPa (102 ksi) for En30B Normalized, about 50% more; tensile strength follows at 1,225 MPa (178 ksi) vs 950 MPa (138 ksi). In exchange, En30B Normalized is the more ductile: elongation 17% versus 12% for En30B Cond X, and En30B Cond X is harder (370 HB vs 285 HB). En30B Normalized runs hotter in service (350°C vs 300°C continuous). On the shop floor, En30B Normalized machines more easily (fair vs poor).

En30B Cond X vs En30B Normalized: propertiesHow to read these bars
- One bar per material. A full bar is the highest value among all steel grades in the FabDigit library; each bar is drawn as a share of that.
- The better value (by the usual engineering direction) is in bold. Rows with no direction — density, thermal conductivity — have no bold.
- Values are typical room-temperature figures for the condition named on each card.
- Confirm against the certified mill or resin datasheet before design release.

En30B Cond X vs En30B Normalized — frequently asked
Is En30B Cond X stronger than En30B Normalized?
Yes. En30B Cond X has a typical yield strength of 1,050 MPa (152 ksi) against 700 MPa (102 ksi) for En30B Normalized — about 50% more. Tensile strength is 1,225 MPa (178 ksi) vs 950 MPa (138 ksi).
Which condition does FabDigit quote by default, Cond X or Normalized?
Cond W is the default En30B condition in the FabDigit quote flow (neither Cond X nor Normalized). The other condition is available on request or by drawing note — specify it in the material field or the part notes and the quote is priced for it.
Which is easier to machine, En30B Cond X or En30B Normalized?
En30B Normalized. Its machinability rates fair (35/100) against poor (24/100) for En30B Cond X; for welding the order is En30B Normalized first (poor, 25/100) then En30B Cond X (poor, 20/100).
