EPP CD vs EPP90
Polymer · EPP grade comparison
EPP CD and EPP90 are two grades of the same polymer grade, EPP: CD (cold drawn) versus EPP90 (EPP 90 g/L). The chemistry is identical, so every difference below comes from the condition. EPP90 is the stronger of the two: tensile strength 1 MPa (0.189 ksi) against 0.36 MPa (0.0522 ksi) for EPP CD, about 3.6 times as much. EPP90 is the more ductile: elongation 24% versus 15% for EPP CD. EPP CD is lighter (0.03 g/cm³ vs 0.09 g/cm³ for EPP90) and EPP90 is stiffer (0.02 GPa vs 0 GPa). On the shop floor, EPP90 welds better (good vs fair).
EPP CDChoose it when weight is the constraint.
EPP90Choose it when strength drives the design, or when the part is bent, formed or impact-loaded.
EPP CD vs EPP90: propertiesHow to read these bars
- One bar per material. A full bar is the highest value among all polymer grades in the FabDigit library; each bar is drawn as a share of that.
- The better value (by the usual engineering direction) is in bold. Rows with no direction — density, thermal conductivity — have no bold.
- Values are typical room-temperature figures for the condition named on each card.
- Confirm against the certified mill or resin datasheet before design release.

EPP CD vs EPP90 — frequently asked
Is EPP90 stronger than EPP CD?
Yes. EPP90 has a typical tensile strength of 1 MPa (0.189 ksi) against 0.36 MPa (0.0522 ksi) for EPP CD — about 3.6 times as much.
Which grade does FabDigit quote by default, CD or EPP90?
EPP30 is the default EPP condition in the FabDigit quote flow (neither CD nor EPP90). The other condition is available on request or by drawing note — specify it in the material field or the part notes and the quote is priced for it.
Which is easier to machine, EPP CD or EPP90?
EPP90, by a small margin. Both rate good for machinability — 65/100 against 57/100 for EPP CD; for welding the order is EPP90 first (good, 60/100) then EPP CD (fair, 50/100).
Ready to make it?
Upload a CAD file and FabDigit prices the part in EPP CD and EPP90 side by side — material, machining time, tolerance and finish in one quote. Certified material data ships with the order on request.
Typical handbook values for the conditions named above, normalised for comparison. Hardness on non-Brinell scales is converted approximately for charting only. Request certified data with your order for design-critical properties.
