Copper Alloy TP1-H01 vs TP1-H04

Copper Alloy · TP1 temper comparison

TP1-H01 and TP1-H04 are two conditions of the same copper alloy grade, TP1: H01 (quarter hard) versus H04 (full hard). The chemistry is identical, so every difference below comes from the condition. TP1-H04 is the stronger of the two: yield strength 300 MPa (43.5 ksi) against 175 MPa (25.4 ksi) for TP1-H01, about 71% more; tensile strength follows at 325 MPa (47.1 ksi) vs 250 MPa (36.3 ksi). In exchange, TP1-H01 is the more ductile: elongation 30% versus 6% for TP1-H04, and TP1-H04 is harder (100 HB vs 70 HB). TP1-H01 runs hotter in service (180°C vs 150°C continuous).

TP1-H01 vs TP1-H04 — frequently asked

Is TP1-H04 stronger than TP1-H01?

Yes. TP1-H04 has a typical yield strength of 300 MPa (43.5 ksi) against 175 MPa (25.4 ksi) for TP1-H01 — about 71% more. Tensile strength is 325 MPa (47.1 ksi) vs 250 MPa (36.3 ksi).

Which condition does FabDigit quote by default, H01 or H04?

H58 is the default TP1 condition in the FabDigit quote flow (neither H01 nor H04). The other condition is available on request or by drawing note — specify it in the material field or the part notes and the quote is priced for it.

Which is easier to machine, TP1-H01 or TP1-H04?

TP1-H04. Its machinability rates fair (40/100) against poor (32/100) for TP1-H01; for welding the order is TP1-H01 first (excellent, 95/100) then TP1-H04 (excellent, 90/100).
