Titanium VT14-HR vs VT14-ST
Titanium · VT14 temper comparison
VT14-HR and VT14-ST are two conditions of the same titanium grade, VT14: HR (hot rolled) versus ST (solution annealed). The chemistry is identical, so every difference below comes from the condition. VT14-HR is the stronger of the two: yield strength 870 MPa (126 ksi) against 780 MPa (113 ksi) for VT14-ST, about 12% more; tensile strength follows at 950 MPa (138 ksi) vs 900 MPa (131 ksi). In exchange, VT14-ST is the more ductile: elongation 15% versus 10% for VT14-HR, and VT14-HR is harder (300 HB vs 280 HB). VT14-HR runs hotter in service (400°C vs 350°C continuous).
VT14-HRChoose it when strength drives the design, or when the part sees heat.
VT14-STChoose it when the part is bent, formed or impact-loaded.
VT14-HR vs VT14-ST: propertiesHow to read these bars
- One bar per material. A full bar is the highest value among all titanium grades in the FabDigit library; each bar is drawn as a share of that.
- The better value (by the usual engineering direction) is in bold. Rows with no direction — density, thermal conductivity — have no bold.
- Values are typical room-temperature figures for the condition named on each card.
- Confirm against the certified mill or resin datasheet before design release.

VT14-HR vs VT14-ST — frequently asked
Is VT14-HR stronger than VT14-ST?
Yes. VT14-HR has a typical yield strength of 870 MPa (126 ksi) against 780 MPa (113 ksi) for VT14-ST — about 12% more. Tensile strength is 950 MPa (138 ksi) vs 900 MPa (131 ksi).
Which condition does FabDigit quote by default, HR or ST?
Annealed is the default VT14 condition in the FabDigit quote flow (neither HR nor ST). The other condition is available on request or by drawing note — specify it in the material field or the part notes and the quote is priced for it.
Which welds better, VT14-HR or VT14-ST?
VT14-ST. Its weldability rates very good (75/100) against very good (70/100) for VT14-HR.
