Precious Metal AuNi Cast vs AuNi-H08
Precious Metal · AuNi temper comparison
AuNi Cast and AuNi-H08 are two conditions of the same precious metal grade, AuNi: Cast (as cast) versus H08 (spring hard). The chemistry is identical, so every difference below comes from the condition. AuNi-H08 is the stronger of the two: yield strength 760 MPa (110 ksi) against 150 MPa (21.8 ksi) for AuNi Cast, about 5.1 times as much; tensile strength follows at 820 MPa (119 ksi) vs 350 MPa (50.8 ksi). In exchange, AuNi Cast is the more ductile: elongation 20% versus 1.5% for AuNi-H08, and AuNi-H08 is harder (240 HV vs 110 HV). AuNi Cast runs hotter in service (400°C vs 300°C continuous). On the shop floor, AuNi-H08 machines more easily (good vs fair) and AuNi Cast welds better (very good vs good).

AuNi-H08Choose it when strength drives the design, or when the part is machined in volume.
AuNi Cast vs AuNi-H08: propertiesHow to read these bars
- One bar per material. A full bar is the highest value among all precious metal grades in the FabDigit library; each bar is drawn as a share of that.
- The better value (by the usual engineering direction) is in bold. Rows with no direction — density, thermal conductivity — have no bold.
- Values are typical room-temperature figures for the condition named on each card.
- Confirm against the certified mill or resin datasheet before design release.

AuNi Cast vs AuNi-H08 — frequently asked
Is AuNi-H08 stronger than AuNi Cast?
Yes. AuNi-H08 has a typical yield strength of 760 MPa (110 ksi) against 150 MPa (21.8 ksi) for AuNi Cast — about 5.1 times as much. Tensile strength is 820 MPa (119 ksi) vs 350 MPa (50.8 ksi).
Which condition does FabDigit quote by default, Cast or H08?
H04 is the default AuNi condition in the FabDigit quote flow (neither Cast nor H08). The other condition is available on request or by drawing note — specify it in the material field or the part notes and the quote is priced for it.
Which is easier to machine, AuNi Cast or AuNi-H08?
AuNi-H08. Its machinability rates good (55/100) against fair (40/100) for AuNi Cast; for welding the order is AuNi Cast first (very good, 78/100) then AuNi-H08 (good, 68/100).
