Precious Metal AuCo5-H02 vs AuCo5-H04
Precious Metal · AuCo5 temper comparison
AuCo5-H02 and AuCo5-H04 are two conditions of the same precious metal grade, AuCo5: H02 (half hard) versus H04 (full hard). The chemistry is identical, so every difference below comes from the condition. AuCo5-H04 is the stronger of the two: yield strength 650 MPa (94.3 ksi) against 450 MPa (65.3 ksi) for AuCo5-H02, about 44% more; tensile strength follows at 750 MPa (109 ksi) vs 550 MPa (79.8 ksi). In exchange, AuCo5-H02 is the more ductile: elongation 8% versus 3% for AuCo5-H04, and AuCo5-H04 is harder (200 HV vs 160 HV). AuCo5-H02 runs hotter in service (250°C vs 200°C continuous).

AuCo5-H02 vs AuCo5-H04: propertiesHow to read these bars
- One bar per material. A full bar is the highest value among all precious metal grades in the FabDigit library; each bar is drawn as a share of that.
- The better value (by the usual engineering direction) is in bold. Rows with no direction — density, thermal conductivity — have no bold.
- Values are typical room-temperature figures for the condition named on each card.
- Confirm against the certified mill or resin datasheet before design release.

AuCo5-H02 vs AuCo5-H04 — frequently asked
Is AuCo5-H04 stronger than AuCo5-H02?
Yes. AuCo5-H04 has a typical yield strength of 650 MPa (94.3 ksi) against 450 MPa (65.3 ksi) for AuCo5-H02 — about 44% more. Tensile strength is 750 MPa (109 ksi) vs 550 MPa (79.8 ksi).
Which condition does FabDigit quote by default, H02 or H04?
H04 is the default AuCo5 condition in the FabDigit quote flow. The other condition is available on request or by drawing note — specify it in the material field or the part notes and the quote is priced for it.
When should I choose AuCo5-H02 over AuCo5-H04?
Pick AuCo5-H02 when the part is bent, formed or impact-loaded, or when the part sees heat. Pick AuCo5-H04 when strength drives the design.
