TP-PI CF30 vs TP-PI GR15
Polymer · TP-PI grade comparison
TP-PI CF30 and TP-PI GR15 are two grades of the same polymer grade, TP-PI: CF30 (30 % carbon-fiber reinforced) versus GR15 (15 % graphite filled bearing grade). The chemistry is identical, so every difference below comes from the condition. TP-PI CF30 is the stronger of the two: tensile strength 210 MPa (30.5 ksi) against 66 MPa (9.57 ksi) for TP-PI GR15, about 3.2 times as much. In exchange, TP-PI GR15 is the more ductile: elongation 4.5% versus 2% for TP-PI CF30. TP-PI CF30 is lighter (1.44 g/cm³ vs 1.51 g/cm³ for TP-PI GR15) and TP-PI CF30 is stiffer (18 GPa vs 4.5 GPa). On the shop floor, TP-PI GR15 machines more easily (good vs fair).
TP-PI CF30Choose it when strength drives the design, or when weight is the constraint.
TP-PI GR15Choose it when the part is bent, formed or impact-loaded, or when the part is machined in volume.
TP-PI CF30 vs TP-PI GR15: propertiesHow to read these bars
- One bar per material. A full bar is the highest value among all polymer grades in the FabDigit library; each bar is drawn as a share of that.
- The better value (by the usual engineering direction) is in bold. Rows with no direction — density, thermal conductivity — have no bold.
- Values are typical room-temperature figures for the condition named on each card.
- Confirm against the certified mill or resin datasheet before design release.
