Magnesium Alloy HK31A-H24 vs HK31A-T6
Magnesium Alloy · HK31A temper comparison
HK31A-H24 and HK31A-T6 are two conditions of the same magnesium alloy grade, HK31A: H24 (strain hardened and partially annealed, half hard) versus T6 (solution heat treated and artificially aged). The chemistry is identical, so every difference below comes from the condition. HK31A-H24 is the stronger of the two: yield strength 200 MPa (29 ksi) against 105 MPa (15.2 ksi) for HK31A-T6, about 90% more; tensile strength follows at 255 MPa (37 ksi) vs 220 MPa (31.9 ksi). HK31A-H24 is the more ductile: elongation 9% versus 8% for HK31A-T6. HK31A-T6 runs hotter in service (350°C vs 315°C continuous) and HK31A-H24 conducts heat better (111 W/m·K vs 92 W/m·K).
HK31A-H24Choose it when strength drives the design, or when the part is bent, formed or impact-loaded.
HK31A-T6Choose it when the part sees heat.
HK31A-H24 vs HK31A-T6: propertiesHow to read these bars
- One bar per material. A full bar is the highest value among all magnesium alloy grades in the FabDigit library; each bar is drawn as a share of that.
- The better value (by the usual engineering direction) is in bold. Rows with no direction — density, thermal conductivity — have no bold.
- Values are typical room-temperature figures for the condition named on each card.
- Confirm against the certified mill or resin datasheet before design release.

HK31A-H24 vs HK31A-T6 — frequently asked
Is HK31A-H24 stronger than HK31A-T6?
Yes. HK31A-H24 has a typical yield strength of 200 MPa (29 ksi) against 105 MPa (15.2 ksi) for HK31A-T6 — about 90% more. Tensile strength is 255 MPa (37 ksi) vs 220 MPa (31.9 ksi).
Which condition does FabDigit quote by default, H24 or T6?
H24 is the default HK31A condition in the FabDigit quote flow. The other condition is available on request or by drawing note — specify it in the material field or the part notes and the quote is priced for it.
When should I choose HK31A-H24 over HK31A-T6?
Pick HK31A-H24 when strength drives the design, or when the part is bent, formed or impact-loaded. Pick HK31A-T6 when the part sees heat.
