Copper Alloy TP1-H02 vs TP1-O60

Copper Alloy · TP1 temper comparison

TP1-H02 and TP1-O60 are two conditions of the same copper alloy grade, TP1: H02 (half hard) versus O60 (soft annealed). The chemistry is identical, so every difference below comes from the condition. TP1-H02 is the stronger of the two: yield strength 245 MPa (35.5 ksi) against 70 MPa (10.2 ksi) for TP1-O60, about 3.5 times as much; tensile strength follows at 285 MPa (41.3 ksi) vs 220 MPa (31.9 ksi). In exchange, TP1-O60 is the more ductile: elongation 48% versus 14% for TP1-H02, and TP1-H02 is harder (87 HB vs 45 HB). TP1-O60 runs hotter in service (250°C vs 170°C continuous). On the shop floor, TP1-H02 machines more easily (fair vs poor).

TP1-H02 vs TP1-O60 — frequently asked

Is TP1-H02 stronger than TP1-O60?

Yes. TP1-H02 has a typical yield strength of 245 MPa (35.5 ksi) against 70 MPa (10.2 ksi) for TP1-O60 — about 3.5 times as much. Tensile strength is 285 MPa (41.3 ksi) vs 220 MPa (31.9 ksi).

Which condition does FabDigit quote by default, H02 or O60?

H58 is the default TP1 condition in the FabDigit quote flow (neither H02 nor O60). The other condition is available on request or by drawing note — specify it in the material field or the part notes and the quote is priced for it.

Which is easier to machine, TP1-H02 or TP1-O60?

TP1-H02. Its machinability rates fair (35/100) against poor (25/100) for TP1-O60.
