Aluminum AC4D-F vs AC4D-T7
Aluminum · AC4D temper comparison
AC4D-F and AC4D-T7 are two conditions of the same aluminum grade, AC4D: F (as fabricated) versus T7 (solution heat treated and overaged (stabilized)). The chemistry is identical, so every difference below comes from the condition. AC4D-T7 is the stronger of the two: yield strength 235 MPa (34.1 ksi) against 100 MPa (14.5 ksi) for AC4D-F, about 135% more; tensile strength follows at 260 MPa (37.7 ksi) vs 170 MPa (24.7 ksi). In exchange, AC4D-F is the more ductile: elongation 2.5% versus 1% for AC4D-T7, and AC4D-T7 is harder (85 HB vs 65 HB). AC4D-T7 runs hotter in service (200°C vs 150°C continuous).
AC4D-FChoose it when the part is bent, formed or impact-loaded.
AC4D-T7Choose it when strength drives the design, or when the part sees heat.
AC4D-F vs AC4D-T7: propertiesHow to read these bars
- One bar per material. A full bar is the highest value among all aluminum grades in the FabDigit library; each bar is drawn as a share of that.
- The better value (by the usual engineering direction) is in bold. Rows with no direction — density, thermal conductivity — have no bold.
- Values are typical room-temperature figures for the condition named on each card.
- Confirm against the certified mill or resin datasheet before design release.

AC4D-F vs AC4D-T7 — frequently asked
Is AC4D-T7 stronger than AC4D-F?
Yes. AC4D-T7 has a typical yield strength of 235 MPa (34.1 ksi) against 100 MPa (14.5 ksi) for AC4D-F — about 135% more. Tensile strength is 260 MPa (37.7 ksi) vs 170 MPa (24.7 ksi).
Which condition does FabDigit quote by default, F or T7?
T6 is the default AC4D condition in the FabDigit quote flow (neither F nor T7). The other condition is available on request or by drawing note — specify it in the material field or the part notes and the quote is priced for it.
Which is easier to machine, AC4D-F or AC4D-T7?
AC4D-T7, by a small margin. Both rate good for machinability — 62/100 against 55/100 for AC4D-F.
