What is DC01-EG?
DC01-EG is DC01 supplied in the EG condition — choose when a smooth paintable surface and tight thickness control matter more than coating life — thin zinc for indoor enclosures and appliance panels. DC01-EG has a yield strength of 210 MPa (30.5 ksi) and a tensile strength of 310 MPa (45 ksi) — weaker than 98% of steel grades. Elongation at break is 32% and the elastic modulus is 210 GPa (30.5 Msi). DC01-EG has a density of 7.85 g/cm³ (0.284 lb/in³), heavier than 56% of steel grades. It melts at 1,495°C (2,723 °F). HR is the default condition FabDigit quotes; EG is available on request or by drawing note.

Working with DC01-EG
Is DC01 easy to machine?
Soft and gummy — use sharp positive-rake tools, high speed and generous coolant to avoid built-up edge and burrs; ideal for punching, laser and shear cutting rather than turning.
Can DC01 be welded?
Excellent with all processes (RSW, MIG, TIG, laser, spot); galvanized versions need fume extraction, higher current and often a gap or Zn-compatible wire to avoid porosity.
Can DC01 be formed, bent or molded?
Very good cold formability — bend radii down to ~0.5–1×t, deep-draw modestly (use DC03/DC04/DC06 for severe draws); watch stretcher strain lines if the skin-pass has aged.
What surface finishes work on DC01?
Bare stock must be protected immediately — zinc plating, zinc phosphate + e-coat, powder coat or oil; galvanized sheet takes paint after a chromate/phosphate or Zn-compatible primer.

DC01-EG — frequently asked
What is DC01-EG used for?
DC01-EG is typically used for appliance panels, automotive body and bracket parts, electrical enclosures and cabinets, sheet metal chassis and covers, ductwork and housings and stamped brackets and clips. In short: european standard sheet.
What is the yield strength of DC01-EG?
DC01-EG has a typical yield strength of 210 MPa (30.5 ksi) and a tensile strength of 310 MPa (45 ksi) — weaker than 98% of steel grades. Strength varies by condition: see the 4 listed tempers.
Is DC01-EG easy to machine?
Reasonably — machinability is rated good (55/100, better than 62% of steel grades). Soft and gummy — use sharp positive-rake tools, high speed and generous coolant to avoid built-up edge and burrs; ideal for punching, laser and shear cutting rather than turning.
Can DC01-EG be welded?
Yes — weldability is rated very good (75/100). Excellent with all processes (RSW, MIG, TIG, laser, spot); galvanized versions need fume extraction, higher current and often a gap or Zn-compatible wire to avoid porosity.
What surface finishes work on DC01-EG?
Bare stock must be protected immediately — zinc plating, zinc phosphate + e-coat, powder coat or oil; galvanized sheet takes paint after a chromate/phosphate or Zn-compatible primer.
Can DC01-EG be formed, bent or molded?
Very good cold formability — bend radii down to ~0.5–1×t, deep-draw modestly (use DC03/DC04/DC06 for severe draws); watch stretcher strain lines if the skin-pass has aged.
What is the maximum service temperature of DC01-EG?
DC01-EG is rated for continuous use to about 200°C (392 °F). Strength falls off well before that limit — check the elevated-temperature data for load-bearing parts.
What is the difference between DC01-HR and DC01-CR?
