BAg-2 FOIL is BAg-2 supplied in the FOIL condition — use for furnace/vacuum-style sandwich joints where an exact, pre-placed filler volume is needed. BAg-2 FOIL has a yield strength of 200 MPa (29 ksi) and a tensile strength of 450 MPa (65.3 ksi) — stronger than 50% of precious metal grades. Elongation at break is 20% and the elastic modulus is 83 GPa (12 Msi). BAg-2 FOIL has a density of 9.4 g/cm³ (0.34 lb/in³), lighter than 82% of precious metal grades. It melts at 607°C (1,125 °F). WIRE is the default condition FabDigit quotes; FOIL is available on request or by drawing note.

Is BAg-2 easy to machine?
Soft and gummy — machine only for preform trimming with sharp, high-rake tools; avoid generating fine dust because of cadmium toxicity.
Can BAg-2 be welded?
Not a structural weld filler; it is applied by brazing. Use an AWS FB3-A white flux or an inert/reducing furnace atmosphere, and do not braze in vacuum furnaces because of cadmium volatilisation.
Can BAg-2 be formed, bent or molded?
Excellent cold formability — readily drawn to fine wire, rolled to 0.05 mm foil and stamped into rings and preforms.
What surface finishes work on BAg-2?
Fillets can be polished bright; remove corrosive flux residue with hot water/acid pickle; brazed assemblies can be plated if the Zn/Cd surface is properly cleaned.
